Question:
Why does it take so long for my dog to be groomed?
Answer:
A grooming takes about 2-3 hours depending on the pets hair (length,
degree of matting, cooperation from the pet, etc). There are other pets in the shop that need either bathed, groomed,
dryed or brushed out. If your pet (or someone elses) is uncooperative to being groomed, that puts everything
behind. There are many things that are going on in the shop that can slow down the process of grooming, like answering
the phone, making appointments and taking in the other dogs that are coming into the shop. Your pets grooming is very
important to me and I want to make sure you AND your pet are very satisfied. Your patience while your pet is being groomed
is very much appreciated.
Question:
How often should I get my dogs nails cut?
Answer:
Depending on how fast your dogs nails grow, you should get your dogs
nails cut about once a month or every other month. Letting your dogs nails get too long could throw off your dogs walk causing
discomfort to your pet. The nails can curl and grow into the pads causing infection that would need medical
attention. Getting your dogs nails cut as soon as you notice they are getting long is the best prevention for unnecessary
discomfort or illness for your pet. You and your pet will be much happier keeping their nails trimmed as often as possible.
Question:
Sometimes I have to wait a week or two for a appointment, why does
it take so long to get an appointment?
Answer:
During certain times of the year we can be busier than other times
of the year. Christmas and summer are very busy and we get booked in advance, sometimes up to a month. If you
know in advance that you would like to have your pet groomed, call and schedule an appointment. Better yet, you
can schedule your next appointment when you pick up your pet. That way, you're assured of getting the appointment you
want, on the day and time you prefer.
Question:
I brush my dog but he/she still gets matted. What can I do so he/she
doesn’t get so matted?
Answer:
If your dogs hair is long it takes more frequent brushings to keep
it from getting matted or knotted. You MUST brush out all the knots BEFORE and AFTER the bath. If
you do not do this the knots will get tighter and bigger and also harder to brush out. Regular trips to the groomer about
once a month will help keep matting and knotting under control if you cannot keep up with the brushing. If your dog gets
too matted and knotted there's only one course of action, to shave the dog, and you will be unhappy with the outcome, and
it increases your bill. If you groom and brush your dog with more frequency, your bill will be lower and you and your
pooch will be happier with the haircut.
Question:
My dog has fleas, how can I prevent that?
Answer:
The best way to prevent an outbreak of fleas is to use a good quailty
flea medicine that you can get from your vet. You can get either Frontline, Advantix, or Sentinal. Flea collars do not
work. Yearly treatments will help prevent an outbreak more so than just treating your dog a few times a year. If you
have an outbreak of fleas, contact your groomer and have your dog bathed with a flea shampoo. As a courtesy, please
inform your groomer that your dog has fleas so preparations can be made to prevent spreading fleas to other pets in the shop.
Question:
I made an appointment to have my dog groomed and I showed up a little
bit late. I was told to reschedule because I missed my appointment. Why is this?
Answer:
Groomers have a schedule for each day for a certain number of
pets. Each pet takes a different amount of time to groom and that time is carefully worked into the daily schedule.
If one person shows up late at any time of the day, the rest of the day would be behind as well. When you're 1/2 hour
late or more, another pet may be scheduled into your slot, or if someone shows up early, I would begin working on their pet.
If you know your going to be late, a courtesy call would be appreciated.
Question:
What type of heaters do you dry the pets with?
Answer:
All of our dryers are gentle to your pet. They only blow room
temperature air so your pet does not get overheated during the drying process. Some pets actually enjoy the blowing
air the same way they would hang their head out a car window while you drive down the road.
